ABOUT TIM SHEN
Mr. Shen runs a private equity business focusing on buyouts of HK listed companies and investments in China sectors.
He holds both an MBA and LLM (Master of Law) degree. His professional designations include the Certified Public Accountant (USA and HK), Certified Financial Planner (Canada), and Chartered Financial Planner (Canada). Mr. Shen was the CEO and CFO of Universal Holdings Limited (419:HK), which is a leading Total Media operator in China; CFO of Fortune Oil PLC (FTO:LN), and Assistant GM of China Merchants Holdings International (144:HK). He spent over 20 years in leadership positions with internationally renowned companies such as Merrill Lynch and Coopers & Lybrand. He has extensive experience in Accounting, Corporate Finance, Investments, M&A and the Restructuring Advisory area.
He is a member of the American Institute of the Certified Public Accountants, fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, member of the Financial Planning Standards Council of Canada, China Committee Member of the Hong Kong Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, founding member and Vice President of the International Association of CFOs and Corporate Treasurers (China), senior member of the Hong Kong Association of Corporate Treasurers and National Chairman of the Canada China Trade Development Association.
For the past 12 consecutive years, Mr. Shen has been invited to speak on financial topics at the “HK Week” in China which was attended by over three million participants from the Chinese business sector. He was appointed the Entertainment/Media Industry and the Garment/Retail Advisory Committee Member by the HK Trade Development Council in April 2006 and April 2011 respectively for a 4-year term and serves as a visiting lecturer of the HKU Space, in the corporate finance area. He was also appointed by the HKSAR Government to be a member of the Board of Review under the Inland Revenue Ordinance in July 2009. Mr. Shen established the China Enterprises Economic Research Study Centre, which is a reputable elite business leaders group, providing regular “think-tank” services to various entities in China and Hong Kong, covering macro-micro economic strategies.
For the past few years, the value of corporate finance transactions (e.g. M&A, IPO, debt issuance, share placements, etc) being handled by Mr. Shen already exceeded HK$10 billion. He was also appointed the Official Trade Representative of Yixing City of China (Pottery Capital of the World) and the Bancomex (the Federal Trade Development Bank of Mexico). He is now a partner to the HK Productivity Council TURN program. In November 2008, he was appointed as the Director of the City of Chang Chun (Jilin Province) Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Friendship Association. In October 2012, he was appointed to be a member of the Changchun CPPCC and a member of the HK Provincial CPPCC Association.
